Join our Belém Free Walking Tour. Enjoy a 2-hour walking tour where you will immerse yourself in Portugal's Age of Discovery.
We begin the tour in Plaza Afonso Albuquerque at 11:00. There will begin our journey to the past to discover the maritime origins of Lisbon and where we will understand the origin of the Portuguese expeditions.
Our next step will be to enjoy the history of the most famous cakes in the country. The Belém Cake.
Next we will show you a hidden place, legacy of what was one of the largest massacres that occurred in the city.
From here, we will begin to tour the most monumental part of the city: first, we will approach the Jerónimos Monastery to visit its church (whenever it is open), then we will go to the Plaza del Imperio, symbol of the Empire Portuguese from the 15th-16th centuries.
Later, we will arrive at the Wind Rose, where we will discover exactly what routes were followed by Vasco da Gama or Bartolomeu Dias. In addition, we will get closer to admire the imposing Monument to the Discoveries.
The final point will be the Belém Tower. Where we will learn about its history, and the story of the first rhinoceros that arrived in Europe.
We will be in the center of Plaza Afonso Albuquerque, in Belém, right next to the statue with the White Umbrella.
