Things to do Freiburg Walking Tour: History & Regional Geology

From the meeting point, we will head towards the old town of Freiburg and discover its streets, most significant historical buildings, the Bächle (the iconic water canals), the two gate towers, and the Freiburger Minster. Throughout our tour, I will tell you about the most interesting and important historical events, the town’s transition to the bicycle city we find today, and the regional geology by having a closer look at the building stones of the Minster and paved streets. The tour ends at the Swabian tower. For those who are still motivated, however, add 30 min to the tour, and we will go up to the Kanonenplatz. There you will get an understanding of the earth’s processes in the region that shaped the landscape we find today. If you like the sound of that, I am more than happy to welcome you on this walking tour. See you then! Tour includes: - Town theatre - Square of the Old Synagogue - University church - Town hall square - Old and New town hall - Whalehouse - Kaiser-Joseph-Straße (Große Gasse) - Cathedral Square - Historical merchant's hall - Swabian Gate
