I have been to Barranco many times, but there is always something new to discover and learn about this very special district of Lima — and this tour did not disappoint.
I had a fantastic experience on the free walking tour with Jaime and Flor. They were both incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, and they made the entire experience feel lively, personal, and engaging from start to finish. What was supposed to be a 4-hour tour turned into nearly 10 hours of walking, talking, and exploring — which says everything about how enjoyable and enriching it was.
Jaime and Flor explained the history, culture, and artistic identity of Barranco in a clear, entertaining, and thoughtful way, combining historical facts with local stories, useful recommendations, and fascinating details that made the district come even more alive. We also went beyond the usual tour topics and discussed urban development, politics, history, and much more, which added another layer of depth to the experience. Together, they created a wonderful atmosphere and made me feel truly welcome.
The route itself was beautiful and memorable. We started in Miraflores at Parque Alfredo Salazar, walked along the Malecón to Parque Domodossola, crossed the Puente de la Paz into Barranco, and then explored a wide range of historic landmarks and cultural spaces, including Dédalo, Artesanos Don Bosco, La Feria de Barranco, the Church of San Francisco de Asís, the area around the Museo Pedro de Osma, and even briefly Chorrillos — and much more besides.
I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lima. Barranco is such a unique and inspiring neighborhood, and Jaime and Flor are exceptional guides who make the experience even more memorable.
