Student Life Bologna: From the Middle Ages till Today

This tour, given by a student at the University of Bologna, will explore the history of the city with a special focus on its university. Bologna has the oldest university in Europe. Some historians claim that even in the world, ever since the Middle Ages, the city has been characterized by a rich student life whose fame has reached, from the very start, the whole Western world. During this tour, we will have a nice walk through the historical landmarks of the city. Through its rich medieval history and monuments, we will talk about how the university came about in the year 1088. In the second part of the tour, we will have a walk to see the graffities of the university district. This part will be dedicated to the contemporary student life of the city that ever since the 60s and 70s has played a major role in the formation of social movements in Italy.
