“Luc D was one of the best guides I've EVER had”
I've had mixed experiences with FreeTours, but this tour was by far the best FreeTour I've been on. The Antwerp Legends company was very well organized with two guides standing the center of the Grote Markt right when they said they would be there (tour attendees are told to show up 10 minutes early, so I expect the guides to be there early as well — definitely the case here!). There were ~40 people signed up for the 1:30 tour, but we split into two groups of 20 so the group was a manageable size.
Luc D was engaging and funny right from the beginning, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide. His passion for Antwerp is evident, and he weaves cohesive themes (e.g. the city's many Madonna statues, Antwerp's sense of self-importance) through multiple stops, so you get a sense of the identity of the city as opposed to only short views of individual landmarks. The tour covers the important buildings in the old town, as well as some newer buildings towards the shopping district. Luc was also great at suggesting other things to do while in the city. There's a lot to do/see in Antwerp so I would highly recommend taking this tour early in your trip so you can follow up on some of Luc's recommendations.
This tour definitely didn't disappoint, solidifying Antwerp as one of my favorite European cities.

“Interesting Even for Flemish People!”
Even though it was freezing cold, Gaston did not complain and took us through the Antwerp history. For us Flemmings it's cool to "piece together" more of our local history. The free access to the Jesuit church (Sint-Carolus Boromeus) was a great bonus, as was the caramel (Chocotoff) we received! The visit to the cute street of Vlaeykensgang was a highlight as well!
A great way to enhance the tour would be tips on places to eat or to visit.

We had a very worthwhile couple of hours on this tour. None of my concerns about it being a 'free' tour (i.e. tips based) were realised. Our guide, Marleen, was mature, had excellent English, level headed, intelligent and didn't get diverted by trivia. We feel as if we'd learned a lot.

El Tour lo tomé en inglés porque a la hora que pasé por la ciudad. No había en español. Era el día en que llega San Nicolás y había una fiesta, niños musica ruido, y muchísima gente en la plaza de la Fuente. Éramos un grupo muy grande y nos dividieron en dos, Edna fue mi guia y resultó mucho mejor de lo que me imaginé, se ve que le encanta su trabajo y ha estudiado lo que trasmite.
Fue una forma muy util de conocer la cd, ya wue estuve ahi solo la duracion del tour. Gracias Edna !!!
