Things to do Free Cultural Tour in Yerevan with Tastings
We set off to explore, and we begin our walk from beautiful Republic Square through the hidden gems of the city center and up to the strikingly modern Cascades for views of Biblical Mount Ararat. During our walk, we will visit monuments, parks, and restaurants(which only locals know). We will stop for a small break and try local drinks such as local coffee and local tea. We will get acquainted with Armenian History, Architecture, Geopolitics, Economy, Geography, Traditions, Religion History, and many more. Furthermore, we will have fun, and there will be time to take pictures. At the end of our tour, you will have the best recommendations and know what to do after the tour, and where to go to eat the best Armenian food. ***During our tour, we stop in an Armenian restaurant to try local starters such as zaatar with cheese, muhammara with bread, a choice of drinks such as tea and coffee, bottled water or tan (yogurt drink), which will cost 4,000 AMD (~ $10) per person.*** Looking forward to meeting you soon!

“My experience”
I'm sharing with you my own experience and naturally it does not mean that others in our group has also experienced the same thing.
Generally I did not like the way he was explaining about different issues.
He was in a hurry to explain so many issues and for me, getting so much information with little concentration and pause, was not interesting.
He was a bit impatient for answering questions, although he was trying to show he is open for that.
I also saw that this method of getting familiar with different places was boring and somehow tiring for me and I left the gathering from somewhere.
Although it had been mentioned that the tour was free with no payments, at the end the participants paid for it atleast 10000 Drams. I think it should be clarified as some people might feel pressure when they see others are paying and they themsrlves are not. I was not there at the end, but I heard it from a friend who was there.
Sometimes he would act like a teacher to control the gathering, and although I understand his concern for getting all of us together, I would feel to be at classroom.
The informations was so much with little depth for me; some people might like it but I did not.
He had a good physical status and could walk far distances.

“The title accurately describes the tour.”
Tigray was very personable. He was fluent in English, with an accent which was easy to understand. He was well organized and kept us together as a group, which I can’t imaging being easy. We were like “herding cats”.
The first thing he did was ask each of us what we were hoping to see on the tour. He then tailored the tour to our desires. He gave us a wonderful experience with “tasting” Armenia! So many of us were interested in food that he arranged for a full meal, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would strongly recommend him as a tour guide!

“Absolutely fantastic!”
Ioanna, our guide was friendly, informative, insightful and an absolute pleasure. I cannot recommend her enough. She took us on a long walk all over town, with great explanations and a good sense of humor, personal stories mixed in with the Armenian history and culture. Ioanna took us to a great little restaurant to taste Western Armenian foods (definitely don't miss it!) and gave us recommendations for a few other places that serve "real" food - that the locals eat.
All in all, a great tour! If you can, ask for Ioanna!

“Fantastically organized & very informative”
Don't let the 3.5 hour tour intimidate you... this was such a great way to see downtown Yerevan and learn its richly complex history. Ioanna was very insightful and tailored her tour to answer all questions of the visitors and what they wanted to learn most from the tour. The Armenian food in the middle of the tour was a much needed break and a great way to taste the local cuisine. Highly recommend.

“Average Tour with Some Awkward Moments”
Overall, the tour in Yerevan was okay, with a mix of interesting and less relevant information. Some of the facts shared were genuinely engaging, but others felt unnecessary for a guided tour. One unusual aspect was that the guide was accompanied by another person who said he was helping, which made the experience feel a bit unclear at times.
The tour included one food stop, which you pay on the spot (cash or card). However, the way it was handled was a bit awkward. While some dishes were meant to be shared among the group, the guide and his helper ordered separate items just for themselves. At one point, the helper offered to share his soup, but understandably no one felt comfortable eating from the same bowl.
There were also moments when questions from the group didn’t seem very welcome. When someone asked something, the guide’s response felt a bit cold, as if the question wasn’t appreciated.
They mentioned a recommended tip of €15, which felt on the higher side compared to other tours I’ve done, where €10 is more common. Overall, it was an average experience with a few good moments, but also some awkward ones.

I just came back from a great tour with the wonderful Ioanna. I booked the tour spontaneously a few hours before it took place and from the moment it started I knew that I had made a good decision. Ioanna was everything you would want from a guide - knowledgable, attentive, nice, fun, and informative (and much more). The tour was well-organized, with a timely break in a local typical restaurant where we could taste delicious food and warm up a bit for the next part of the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Yerevan and is curious to get to know and experience the place.

We were a bit anxious about such a long free-to-book tour as 3.5hrs is a long time if the guide or tour isn’t ideal. However, we were really happy! Ioanna was very engaging and we weren’t tempted to pay and peel off early! We really appreciated her openness to our many cultural questions. Her explanation of the geopolitical situation was better than any of the prep learning that we did before arriving. She was diplomatic but thorough. We appreciated her honesty about the socioeconomic situation in Armenia. While we enjoyed the tasting portion, I’m not sure it’s necessary as it extends the tour time and is an additional 3000 local currency. The tasting would not detour us from rebooking though. My spouse is not a huge fan of walking tours and he enjoyed Ionna’s!

“Great Intro To Yerevan On Foot ”
I enjoyed every minute of it, thanks to our lovely guide Ioana. I can recommend it further, just bear in mind that, by walking the tour, you will necessarily be limited in range. If you want a complete orientation to ALL sights in the city, then a coach tour might be preferable. But the small group format is unbeatable, we could ask Ioana all questions we wanted, and she replied unfailingly in an informative and courteous way.

We had hoped to enjoy a group free tour of Yerevan, but sadly there were not enough people to do so. Tigran called a couple of hours before the tour was to start and informed us of the situation. As we had no other day to do this tour, we asked about doing a private tour and Tigran accommodated our request (fee was about 50 Euros per person). It was a little pricier than we had planned for, but again, we didn't have time on our side. Tigran met us at the meeting point on time and proceeded to give us a walking tour that orientated us well to the city with information about the history and culture of the area. He took us to a nice little restaurant where we enjoyed some local treats--muhammara, zaatar with cheese, and blistered eggplant. We tried a local beer as well.

“Great guide with a dry sense of humor - start your time in Yerev”
I came to Yerevan unsure what to do and I joined Ioanna's tour of Yerevan last minute and I am glad I did because I learned a lot more than I would have on my own. She's got a great sense of humor even if our tour group maybe was bashful and didn't grasp her jokes.
She asked every everyone our names, where we were from, and what we were most interested in learning about. We saw a lot in the three and a half hours!
Something I didn't realize about the format of the tour is that she gives you a lot of information and suggestions for activities to do and restaurants and bars you can visit after your tour. We only go to one place for food and we linger there for a bit (the food was wonderful at Anteb). It's a bit of a survey tour.
This was my first time using Freetour.com and I am really happy with it and will use it for the rest of my holiday (last two stops are Tbilisi and Istanbul). Definitely check this out!

“Yeravan walking tour”
It was my first day in yeravan & I decided to just go for a walking tour n see. Tigran was our guide & he was so knowledgeable about armenian history, culture & religion that he explained a lot of stories behind the Buildings, statues of yeravan. He also gave us a comprehensive list of the places that we could go to eat typical armenian food.. I would recommend the tour (especially in the beginning of your trip to armenia) to get the first glimpse of yeravan n armenian culture :)

We had a wonderful tour with Ioanna in Yerevan, where she introduced us to the city and its rich history. Although the tour focused on the city center, she guided us through quieter side streets, which made the experience relaxing and free from the usual noise. Her stories were engaging, and the tips she shared proved very helpful for exploring Yerevan in the following days. A great way to start our visit — highly recommended!
