Things to do Discovering the Open Museum: Valletta Tour UNESCO Site
Valletta is an exceptional city. The only European capital declared to be a World Heritage site by UNESCO, built by an order of cavaliers, the most modern capital for its time, spectacularly beautiful, full of secrets, and rich history. Beauty, you may discover on your own, but we are hoping to be able to share the rest. We will be walking around the main streets and squares, we will speak about the most interesting buildings, and we will explain the history and the evolution of this city described as “an open-air museum” in an easy path accessible to all. We will talk too about our gastronomy, films shot in Malta, our traditions and peculiarities, our present and the best places of the city and its surroundings and how to visit them, alongside any questions you may have. Please, if you are in a group with 6 or more travellers, kindly contact us. We accept group bookings of 6 participants or more, with payment of a deposit of €10 per person which allows us to keep the maximum number of participants and a decent salary for the guide, for all the parties to be able to enjoy the experience:)

Very informative, with a lot of history facts, sometimes even too much of them- it felt a bit overwhelming and made us loose our focus towards the end of the tour. The guide was nice, everything was punctual and well organised. It was a big group, but the guide had a microphone so we heard everything.
We would have appreciated it more, if the balance between facts and views/sightseeing was tipped a little bit more towards the latter.
All in all, would recommend :)

Gran tour con nuestro guía Alvaro, muy buen profesional. Hicimos el recorrido una familia de 8 y fueron los únicos que nos aceptaron al ser un número elevado de personas. Alvaro se esforzó por hacer ameno el recorrido y facilitarlo para que transcurriera con normalidad ya que era carnval y habia muchisima gente en la ciudad, calles cortadas.. Sin duda muy recomendable.

“Great and comprehensive tour”
Today's tour with Barbara has been great, really informative with many interesting facts. She has made it light and given some great suggestions and insights regarding recent changes in Valleta and the British colonial era. The only side I would have changed is that only one mention was made to Malta's history before the order of St Jhon arrived (the ful history of St Jhon's order was commented, that must be said), perhaps more history about Malta before the order of st Jhon arrived would have been better. Other than that, a great tour.

My wife and I joined the Free Walking Tour on 14 November, 2024. The weather was perfect for a leisurely walk in the streets of Valletta. AND SO WAS OUR GUIDE PERFECT. Her name was - I hope I got it right - Marcella. She was well versed in the history of Malta, and had an engaging, lucid style of imparting information.
All in all, a very nice tour - we enjoyed it so much.

What a wonderful tour of Valetta. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. We learned a lot not only about the town history, but also about living in Malta today. We were also lucky enough to join the Cathedral tour right after our walking tour. The guide had already purchased ticket booklets so no waiting in line, and we got a guided tour of the cathedral. That was really top notch. We very highly recommend.

El tour estuvo genial! Se hico muy ameno y pasaron las casi 3 horas de tour super rapido. El guía estuvo siempre dispuesto a responder todas nuestras preguntas y no dudo en quedarse un rato más en responder preguntas y en terminar el tour más tarde de la hora acordada. Si que es verdad que había mucha información y mucha historia y si desconectadas un momento era fácil perderse. Yo había leído un poco sobre valeta y malta porque me mudaba aquí y me interese por donde iba, pero si no hubiese sido fácil perderme con tanta informacion, yo personalmente recomiendo informarse un poco antes de realizar el tour.

Mayca es una guía extraordinaria: Arqueóloga, trilingüe y Maltesa, conoce el país, la cultura y la historia como sólo una persona local puede conocerlo, pero cuando la conozcas no podrás creer que Mayca no es española, después de vivir varios años en España, habla un castellano absolutamente perfecto.
Es decir conoce las culturas, costumbres y lenguajes a un nivel envidiable.
¿Qué más se podría pedir?
Encima Mayca, es simpática, y hace un tour enseñándote los mejores lugares de La Valeta. El detalle de mostrarte el disparo del cañón desde Lower Barraca Gardens es un detalle más de lo que cuida los detalles.
Hicimos con ella los tours de La Valeta y Mdina y creo que no os decepcionará.

Recomendable al 100% si lo que buscas es conocer la ciudad a través de su historia. Mayca es encantadora, tiene amplios conocimientos sobre su país, sobre su historia y su patrimonio cultural y artístico. Además es una excelente comunicadora, habla un Español perfecto a nivel nativo y consigue que el tiempo de la visita se pase volando y te quedes con ganas de más. Con nuestra visita fue especialmente generosa, ya que además de facilitarnos el acceso a la Concatedral se quedó un rato más con nosotros para explicarnos el interior de la misma y los dos Caravaggios que alberga.
También tengo que resaltar todos los consejos útiles y recomendaciones que nos dio para seguir visitando la ciudad y alrededores; así como múltiples recomendaciones sobre otras zonas del país.
Sin duda, Mayca es un diez como persona y como guía, volvería con ella sin pensarlo.

“Excellent tour”
Our guide was Barbara. She was very organised and we could hear everything she said. It was such an interesting and informative tour, well worth doing to get an understanding of Valletta and Maltas history.
