Things to do Taste Setúbal: Portuguese Food, Culture & Local Flavours
The journey will begin with some spiritual nourishment.
I’ll show you round the old town and its narrow streets. You’ll visit the Monastery of Jesus (the first example of Portuguese Gothic architecture), the Livramento Market (one of Europe’s finest fish markets), meet the black cat, have your photo taken with the imposing ‘fat ladies’, and touch the ancient city walls…
After our historical walk, we’ll stop for a bite to eat to recharge our batteries with some of the best Choco Frito in town.
After the break, we’ll continue our walk along the city’s main avenue, where you’ll learn about its history and see plenty of unique sights.
Then, we’ll set off on a brisk walk up to the Castle of St Philip. As a reward for your efforts, you’ll be treated not only to wonderful views of the city and the river, but also to a glass of the legendary Moscatel from Setúbal.
