“very useful to get a broader overview of the Medina”
Very good to get a nice and broad overview of the Medina going to places one wouldn't typically go (like the workshop area) or learning about places like a public oven which is unmarked --it was right beside our Riad and we'd never know. After this tour one can feel more confident in navigating the Medina's maze (though an online map is highly recommended).

“The Best Way to Explore the Medina”
This tour was absolutely amazing! Ismael took us to hidden corners and secret spots I would have never found on my own. He had so much knowledge, a great sense of humor, and made the whole experience fun and engaging.
On top of that, he shared super useful tips—where to eat, the best spot to watch the sunset—and we ended up using all of them!
If you want to truly experience the magic of Marrakech, this tour is a must. One of the best adventures I had in Morocco!

I recently (January 16, 2025) had the pleasure of experiencing the "Free Tour Marrakech: Old City Secrets" through Freetour.com. My primary goal was to find a tour that would offer an insightful look into the city of Marrakech, and I am delighted to say that this tour was a great choice.
Booking the tour was straightforward, and the day before the tour, I received clear information about the meeting time and location. Our meeting point was conveniently located in Jemaa Al Fna, and our guide, Ismael, was punctual and greeted us warmly.
Ismael was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, providing us with rich insights into the history and culture as we explored the old medina. During our walk through the Souks, he offered valuable tips on purchasing and negotiating. One highlight was our stop at a local bakery, where we observed the making of Marrakech bread and even sampled it, a delightful experience.
Additionally, our visit to an art store provided us with an appreciation of the local culture and artistry. As we strolled through a food area, Ismael gave excellent recommendations on where to enjoy some authentic Moroccan cuisine. Completing the approximately two-hour tour back at Jemaa Al Fna was convenient, especially for those wanting to enjoy lunch afterward.
While the tour was thoroughly enjoyable and educational, I feel there is potential for enhancement. It would have been lovely to have more opportunities to try traditional pastries that are abundant in the medina or to sit down for a coffee or tea. Including visits to some prominent landmarks in Marrakech, such as the gardens or the mosque, would enrich the experience further.
Please consider these suggestions as friendly recommendations rather than critiques. We truly learned a lot from Ismael's tour and enjoyed the experience immensely.
Overall, I highly recommend this walking tour if you're looking to explore the medina. I would eagerly participate in it again on my next visit to Marrakech.

We met promptly and started the tour through the Souks, saw how artisans make their wares, the impact of the recent earthquake, where to eat and go and he gave a very good historical context of the city and the Medina. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and even through I have been here for 3 days, he took us to areas I have never been to before. Very good value for money!

Visite guidée exceptionnelle. Le guide est très professionnel. On ne s'arrête pas dans les boutiques des souks au contraire on découvre les quartiers cachés de Marrakech tout en apprenant l'histoire et la culture de la ville et des habitants. Le point de rdv est très facile à trouver. Nous étions un groupe de 15 personnes, la visite se fait en anglais.

Had a guided tour with Ishmael. Being a local man from the Medina, he is full of knowledge with all things Marrakech. He gave a thorough walkthrough regarding the local history of the souks, businesses, social and political impact of the local area. He did not place us in shops where businesses try and sell you items - which is always a bonus. Overall an excellent 2.5hrs well spent!!!

“Worth it”
Overall an interesting tour that kept me engaged and entertained and took us to parts of the medina we wouldnt have found ourselves. Inappreciated the mix of history and current culture, ratehr than a pure historical tour. Especially cool was where you could see the workers in action (leather, metal, etc.)
The guide did recommend a couple places that I personally would consider overpriced tourist traps but he gave me space to inform the group of that, which I appreciated (we had already been to Jardin Secret Garden and Bahia palace and they aren't nearly worth the overpriced entry fee).
He also forgot to mention to be careful of pickpockets in the Medina so here's your warning ;)

Abbiamo fatto oggi il tour Marrakesh antica. Per me la prima volta con Freetour e mi sono trovata molto bene. La guida era 10 minuti in anticipo al punto di incontro come richiesto anche a noi. Siamo partiti puntuali ed eravamo solo in 3, una fortuna per noi in po’ meno per la nostra guida che veniva pagato con offerta libera. È stato un tour interessante, in luoghi meno frequentati dalla grande massa. Tante info interessanti, non ci ha portato in nessun negozio, perciò perfetto. Durata circa 2,15. Grazie di tutto. Ora mi appoggerò sempre a Freeguide.

Ismaël was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to tell us about the medina, Marrakesh and its culture, people and history. It was very interesting! He made sure we were comfortable and safe at all times. He answered all our questions with enthusiasm. The tour is free, but a tip is customary. Ismaël said that €10,- per person is usual but we could obviously decide for ourselves. At the end of the tour, we thought €10,- x 4 (four people) was well worth it!!

Ismael gave us an interesting tour of the northern part of the Medina, including monuments, a communal bakery and the souks. Despite having spent a week in Marrakesh prior to the tour we took a lot of new routes and gained new insights. Would definitely recommend!

“Walking tour”
Ismail, our guide was very good, it is my first time travelling solo and to Marrakech. The tour was so helpful as have never been here. Helped to get my bearings a little with all the little roads everywhere. Would highly recommend!

“Very useful tour”
The Medina is crazy maze where you can easily get lost. Our local guide knows how the get around the maze and shows you how to get the most out the Medina. The guide is very knowledgeable and helpful. He provided info about how to get around, and how to avoid getting ripped off. I highly recommend this free tour. Tip him well.

“Secret places ”
