Welcome aboard the Hamburg museum ship. It is one of the last large sailing ships, built by a German shipyard and used exclusively as a merchant ship.

In 1896, Captain Hermann-Hinrich Ahlers set sail from Bremerhaven for Hong Kong. Inside there were two helmsmen, a cook, a carpenter, a sailmaker and stoker, 14 sailors and 4 cabin boys. They sailed through stormy seas to return with rice and bamboo.
