Guimarães is known as the birthplace of Portugal, but it is much more than a medieval postcard. On this walking tour, we explore the city from the famous “Aqui nasceu Portugal” sign to its vibrant modern areas, connecting history, culture and sport.
We will visit the historic centre, walk towards the castle where the first Portuguese king grew up, and talk about how this city shaped the nation. Then we move beyond the walls – towards the stadium of Vitória SC, green community gardens and cultural spaces that show how alive Guimarães still is today.
I first arrived here two years ago and completely fell in love with this city. Now I’m back, studying tourism, and I treat every tour as preparation for my future profession. This is not just a history lesson – it’s a personal story about a city that inspires me every day.
