A historical and anthropological tour of the monuments, convents, and churches, as well as the political and social implications of the colonial era in Antigua Guatemala. Led by a professional guide with over 25 years of experience and expertise in anthropology, history, and the Mayan worldview. This city will always surprise you with its historic monuments and its streets and avenues full of secrets and legends. Meeting point in front of the Fountain of the Sirens in Central Park. We begin at the Plaza Mayor: City Hall, the Palace, and the Captains’ House. Former University of San Carlos. Cathedral. Former Convent of the Society of Jesus. Church of La Merced. Arch of Santa Catarina. We’ll finish at the Jade Museum. Important note: For better understanding in groups of more than 10 people, we use speakers on all tours. Tour conducted in native Spanish, with 80% in English. We look forward to sharing this tour with you.

Edgar was so warm, so knowledgeable and so interesting! Due to cancellations I was treated to a solo tour and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and learnt so much - he kindly incorporated a little Spanish vocabulary as I said I was trying to learn. It's a small area but Edgar pointed out so many hidden details from history that it is well worth a tour to begin to understand Antigua's architectural style and historical importance. He ended with some excellent recommendations of restaurants, bars/breweries and museums to visit. Highly recommended!

Edgar was a Great guide for our 2.5 hour tour. He gave a lot of insides into Guatemalan history and culture. He was very reactive to questions and very sympathetic overall. We had a really good time and can very much recommend touring with him!

I do a walking tour in almost all cities I visit but this one was unfortunately subpar. The guide was not very articulate or structured and made digressions on topics with no relation to Antigua or Guatemala. Overall it was a disappointment for our group

“Forced to tip certain amount! Do NOT recommend! ”
Unfortunately we got totally scammed!!! I love to travel and therefore I have been to a lot of free city tours, to also understand the concept of the tipping. We got forced to pay 100quetzal each which I would happily pay if the tour was excellent. As the tour was only ok, I find the 100 quetzal not fair. In the end to force us to pay the asked amount and getting rude about when we had to explain to the guide the concept, was very irritating and shocking to me. I do NOT recommend this tour!!!!

Nos toco un guia muy preparado, nos explico todo muy detalladamente y respondio nuestras preguntas, muy profesional. Hicimos el recorrido de forma amena y conversando todo el tiempo. El unico detalle fue que no tenia la sombrilla roja por lo que al principio no pudimos identificarlo frente a la iglesia. Pero fuera de esto fue un excelente servicio!

“Don’t book spontaneously”
We booked 1,5 hours in advance and the guide didn’t show up. We got a confirmation and there was no note that you should book a certain amount of time prior to the tour. There was no number to call or anything. (We had to rate everything but we can’t say anything to the bullets apart from the organisation)

Unser sympathischer Guide Giovanni berichtet vielseitig und lebendig über das Land Guatemala und die Stadt Antigua, über Geschichte damals und Bezug und Einfluss zur / auf die Gegenwart, beantwortet geduldig und professionell alle Fragen über Kultur, Politik, Alltag, Probleme, Bevölkerung, Kulinarik, etc. Auch der Besuch im Jade - Museum war ein toller Abschluss.
Giovanni hat eine sehr gewinnende Art, sein Englisch ist super und sein Wissen weitreichend und beinahe unerschöpflich.
Man merkt sofort, dass er seine Führertätigkeit nicht nur gerne macht, sondern mit ganzem Herzen dabei ist.
Er war vor der FreeWalkingTour über 20 Jahre lang professionell als Guide tätig. Das merkt man sofort.
Sein Tipp für ein authentisches Restaurant "La Casa Del Chapin" (gleich neben dem Markt in Antigua) mit dem traditionellen Gericht PEPIAN war total super!???? Muchos Gracias!
