Full Day Petra Tour from Amman

We will start this full day tour to Petra from Amman with hotel pick up. We will go south to Petra, the ancient Nabataean city carved out of the Pink Rock and the most attractive site in Jordan. It is the first of the seven new wonders of the Modern World. It is famous for its rock-cut architecture as well as its advanced water conduit system. We will contemplate the desert landscapes and listen to stories of the history of Jordan.

Upon arrival we will enjoy a 2-hour tour of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed wonder with a local guide. First, we will walk through the famous Siq, a narrow path of 1.2 kilometers; rock fissure that was once the main entrance to the city. At the end of the path through a narrow and dark part of the Siq, it appears dramatically illuminated as a promise of the famous Al-Khazne treasure. We will admire this pink masterpiece, originally built to house priceless treasures and capture it on camera. Afterwards, we will continue through the widening canyon to witness other monuments such as the 3000 seat Theater, the Royal Tombs and the Byzantine Church.

After about two hours of exploration, we will enjoy free time. If time permits, we can go up to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice.

In addition, we will pass through Little Petra, a small rocky valley with carvings, which archaeologists believe acted as the caravan of the Nabataeans before reaching the main city and as an accommodation stop for merchants traveling through the city.
