On our Free Stockholm’s Landmark Tour – Old City you will travel through its 800-hundred-year-old history from a small Viking settlement to the actual “Venice of the Baltics,” a modern paradise full of culture, nature and sustainability.

Join us on our Old Town Tour to enjoy the beautiful island of Gamlastan and understand why the Vikings chose this island to create their next capital. Our tour is designed chronologically, so you can experience history just like the city did. We will start from the Viking Era, the German influence in the country and the Danish clash which led to the most important Swedish event: the Stockholm bloodbath in 1520 followed by the succession of Gustav Vasa. Your guide will take you on a beautiful walk, describing an overview of Swedish history and essential general information, offering you not only a deep dive into the city’s history but also, some insights of today’s life in the country.

Nos recibieron en el punto de encuentro a la hora indicada y todo estaba muy bien organizado. Comenzamos el recorrido realizando diferentes paradas en donde nuestro guía Sebastián nos contó todo tipo de datos históricos y curiosos. Además, respondió a todas nuestras consultas y nos brindó muchas recomendaciones tanto de lugares de interés como de sitios para ir a comer. “Zoë is the best! ”
I think our whole group enjoyed our time with Zoe as she took us through the old town and kept our interest with her knowledge and humour. She even included the children and gave our group a chance to escape the cold, grab a hot beverage and toilet break. We never felt rushed nor did we feel the tour dragged on. I would recommend this walking tour to anyone visiting this part of Stockholm for the first time, or even to gain some further insight for those who wish to learn a bit of Swedish history. A good tour around the old town Gamla Stan and highlights of the beautiful city. Useful tips and a nice stop at the ‘Willy Wonka’ candystore Polkagris Kokeri where we saw how the candy was made, and could taste it!
