I usually find museums like this a bit dry, but this tour completely changed my experience. More than two hours flew by without me even noticing!
Μιχάλης/Mikhail is very knowledgeable and didn’t just share facts about Byzantine culture but offered deep insights into the evolution of cultures in general. I left with a new perspective—not just on Thessaloniki’s history but on how cultures continuously transform over time. Many of the things I learned in this tour made me look with different eyes at things around me even outside Greece.
I liked the way the tour connected Byzantine culture to what came before it, showing the continuous flow of history. You'll also get a chance to find out more about (orthodox) religion, its place in people's life and decode a bit some of its rituals.
If you’re in Thessaloniki, I highly recommend this tour—it's not just about the past; it also makes you reflect on culture and history in a broader sense. :)
