Stroll through the cobblestone streets of San Telmo on this tour of one of Buenos Aires' most historic neighborhoods. Discover its ancient churches, the famous market, and the iconic Mafalda as you learn about Argentina's past.
We’ll meet at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, a key site of the British invasions of Buenos Aires and home to the mausoleum of Manuel Belgrano, the designer of the flag.
Our next stop will be the Paseo de la Historieta, featuring characters that shaped the childhoods of millions of Argentines, including the iconic sculpture of Mafalda and her friends.
After taking the classic photo, we’ll sample dulce de leche, a traditional Argentine dessert, and discuss its origins and the history of slavery in Buenos Aires. We’ll also visit the Casa Mínima, the narrowest house in Buenos Aires at just 2.5 meters wide, which served as a slave dwelling during the 19th century.
As we walk along the cobblestone streets, we’ll arrive at El Viejo Almacén, the oldest tango club in Buenos Aires, and discover the history of tango, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further on, we’ll reach Plaza Dorrego, a key site in the birth of our country and the location of the Sunday antique market.
To finish, we’ll head to the Church of San Pedro González Telmo, which gives the neighborhood its name, and to the San Telmo Market, the neighborhood’s most iconic landmark.
