Things to do Tour of Rome: Caravaggio, his Legendary Works in Historical Churches

The guided tour of Caravaggio's Rome is an urban walk in the footsteps of the great artist who was able to change the art of his century, reaching a naturalism capable of revolutionizing the European pictorial panorama. The walk will retrace the biographical events and the places where Caravaggio lived and worked, shedding light on the many shadows of his nature and his painting: we will discover Caravaggio's house, the streets of his wanderings and his hobbies, such as the Osteria della Lupa. In the church of Sant'Agostino we will meet the famous Madonna dei Pellegrini, which caused a scandal for the violent naturalism with which the characters are represented. The tour will continue with a visit to the church of San Luigi dei Francesi, which houses three excellent masterpieces by Caravaggio: the Vocation of St. Matthew, St. Matthew and the Angel and the Martyrdom of St. Matthew. The guided tour of Caravaggio is therefore a journey through the art of a unique painter, who became the emblem of the "cursed painter" because of his terrible character.
