Things to do Where the Blue Waters Meet Ancient Streets: Discover Ohrid Free Tour

Escape the crowded tourist paths and immerse yourself in the living history of Lake Ohrid. This journey is designed for those who want to understand the soul of Macedonia’s most beautiful city, following the literal line where the deep blue lake meets the weathered stones of the Old Town. We begin at the lively Ohrid Square, but quickly dive into the narrow, winding alleys that hold the city’s true character. You’ll stand before the Robevci House, a masterpiece of Ottoman design, where I will reveal the architectural 'magic' that allowed these houses to grow wider as they rose toward the sun. Unlike generic tours, we pause for an exclusive demonstration at the National Workshop for Handmade Paper. Here, you’ll witness history in motion on a replica of the original Gutenberg Press—one of only two in the world. As the scent of the lake breeze follows us, we climb toward the Ancient Theatre and the Church of St. Sophia, the historical throne of the Archbishopric. We conclude our journey at the iconic St. John at Kaneo, perched on a cliff where the water and sky become one. The perfect final view of the city’s ancient beauty.
