We pick up our clients from the hotel and then drive to our boat yard near the Attanagalu river mouth. Then we boat to the canals, which are covered with mangrove plants & bird nests around. Here, keep your eyes open, you can see a few reptiles like the Asian water monitor (Varanus Salvator)/ saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). Then we are into Negombo Lagoon from its northern part first, we move near the banks where you can see a lot of Birds and endemic primates to Sri Lanka – Toque Macaque. Local fishermen and traps for fish called “Mas Athu” will be highlighted in this part of the tour. We stop at the small island that disappears at high tide. You can walk around the small island where you can see the tree adaptation to the salt & less oxygen water and its ecosystem. Finally, we come back to the boatyard. Travelers can extend the tour if they want to try the traditional way of fishing in the lagoon and make some delightful fish dishes with us. The tour will be from the drop-off to the hotel.
