An unprecedented loop hike in the Murgia Materana Park.
Along the way, we will have the opportunity to visit rock churches with frescoes from the Byzantine era, ancient jazzi (sheepfolds), farms, and ancient engineering systems that convey water into cisterns, immersed in the Mediterranean flora and fauna that characterize our land.
We will walk along the Gravina stream (a place of settlement since the Neolithic period, over 100 meters deep and about 20 km long), where we will be able to admire the wonderful colors of the magical and evocative Sassi of Matera.
Equipment:
Hiking or trail running shoes
Water (1 L), snacks
Optional: Trekking poles, camera, sunscreen
Distance: about 4 km loop (modifiable according to guest's ability)
Route: with an elevation gain of +/- 100 m
Participants are required to:
- Show up in appropriate physical and mental condition, with hiking clothing and equipment.
- Maintain disciplined behavior during the initiative, respect people and private property, and follow the instructions given by guides.
