Join us on the World War Two London Blitz Tour! Discover the devastating night of December 29th, 1940, when 100,000 bombs ravaged the city. Explore the lasting impact of the Blitz on the Square Mile and uncover history's echoes in London today.
The Tour starts at the Blackfriars pub, one of the few buildings that survived the destruction caused on the 29th of December 1940. During the tour, there will be general World War Two history and timelines to clarify the connections between the start of the War, Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, and the Blitz, tying the events together that led to the 29th December 1940, when the German Airforce conducted one of the most meticulously planned air raids of the war. The purpose of the raid was to break the spirits of the country by the ultimate destruction of St. Paul’s Cathedral. So why is it still standing? Find out why on this tour. You will hear stories of heroism from the fire crews who tried to save the city. You will see a great many pictures from the time and a movie filmed by the fire service. Also, the biggest bomb site in London and how the destruction led to the most extensive archaeological dig in Roman history! The Tour will end at the Guild Hall, the government of the City of London. The tour can take between 2hr-2.30hr depending on the weather and the number of questions I get asked. I look forward to seeing you there.
