Walk through the dark streets of Victorian London on this Free Jack the Ripper Walking Tour, exploring one of history’s most infamous unsolved murder cases. In the autumn of 1888, Whitechapel became the centre of worldwide attention when a mysterious killer murdered five women and vanished without ever being identified. On this guided walking tour, we delve into the true story, separating fact from fiction while placing the crimes in their historical and social context. Led by an experienced local guide, you’ll examine the key events of the case, learn about the most famous suspects, and discover how poverty, policing, and life in the East End shaped the investigation. Crucially, this tour also tells the human stories of the victims, offering insight into their lives beyond the headlines. Lasting approximately two hours, the tour finishes in Spitalfields Market. “If it was possible to give more stars I would! ”
Our guide with the nickname Big Ben did his job in an absolutely great way! As a historian for the Victorian era he is an expert for ripperology - and you will notice it! Despite that he is an excellent story teller, so you got immersivly in the late 19th century. With many facts he left us breathless.
But if you want to get to know more about the city or it's buildings maybe choose another tour, because many of the crime scenes do not exist anymore. But instead of this you learn a lot of the circumstances in which Jack the Ripper was allowed to commit his cruel crimes. Absolutely recommendable!

Unser Guide Colin hat die Ereignisse rund um Jack the Ripper nicht nur faktentreu, sondern auch mit großem Respekt gegenüber den Opfern erzählt. Besonders positiv fand ich, dass der Fokus bewusst auf den Opfern lag – ihr Schicksal und ihre Lebensumstände im London des Jahres 1888 wurden einfühlsam und detailreich beleuchtet.
Neben den spannenden Einblicken in die damalige Zeit erhielten wir auch viele interessante Hintergrundinformationen über die Stadt London selbst sowie über die Besonderheiten der City of London.

Bobby our tour guide told the story of London in the Victorian time and those of the victims of Jack the ripper with humor and compassion, as appropriate, and in a theatrical way. Educational, interesting, well organized. We were 2 adults and 3 kids ages 12-18. Clinical descriptions of the state of the victims was difficult to listen to, but it is not the focus of this tpur and Bobby was sensitive to the crowd.

Coling was agreat interpret. He was very articulate, put the emphasis on the right points and tried to remain objective. He presented the story via victims and try to picture the atmosphere of that particular time. Time has just flown by.
We've learned some interesting things, like City of London has it's own rules, regulations and sign. Quite British from outern point of view. ????
And also that getting "menless" could get you in trouble back then.
Well ... all in all nice, worth our time, not to add hus diction was perfectly distinctive, which is a huge plus for us non-native speaker.
