Things to do First Thing to Do in Florence: Free Tour

This is an interactive, small-group free walking tour. It’s designed for curious and nerdy travelers. We explore Florence’s most important landmarks at a relaxed pace. These landmarks are densely packed into 3 squares: the square of the Cathedral, the square of the government, and the square of the Uffizi. We cover the differences between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the engineering behind Brunelleschi’s Dome, the structure of the Florentine Republic, and the rise of the Medici family. By the end, you’ll understand why Michelangelo’s David is the world’s most famous statue, how to visit the Uffizi Gallery intelligently, and why Florence gave birth to the Renaissance. We will have a gelato break in the middle, and the tour ends at a sunset spot: Ponte Vecchio.
