It was one of the worst tour experiences I've ever had.
It seems like the main purpose of the tour was to take us to the shops or cooperatives (how they call them). He showed us some main tourist attractions and told basic stories but it was very short information. The tour guide was not very knowledgeable and it seemed he just didn't know too much. I asked several questions about the history of Fes and Marocco and have received very little and partially false information. So usually it is different and tour gudes tell you about the culture, traditions and history and the ways how to avoid fraud. It was not this tour. Interesting fact: I asked what is the fair price of saffron before visiting the shop. He said that the shop has the fair price :) I guess the normal tour guide who is not interested in the commission would not have the problem to share this information or his opinion.
Visiting shops and cooperatives can also be a part of the program and there is nothing wrong with that. So if the tour itself was good and we would have visited some shops, i wouldn't mind.
We liked the cooperatives because it is also part of the culture and they tell you some history of the place and of the art. Of course, they offer you in the end to buy something but you don't have to and they are really polite.
To sum up, if you are interested in the culture and history, better look for another tour. The good guide can show you the shops and cooperatives as well but the then you will at least get better information.
P.S. We paid for the tour as we do for every free walking tour.
