“The Best Tour, Hands Down”

Mostafa’s tour of the (Fes) Medina is the best tour I’ve ever been on. The three hours included wandering the alleyways, learning about the history, learning about the doors, and visiting a couple of reputable businesses. Not only did I learn, but I saw, tasted, and smelled all it was available. To top it off, I learned about the signs within the Medina and how to tell the thoroughfare from the dead end alleys. This is 10 star tour, and I recommend it highly.

On the one hand, Mostafa was well-informed. On the other hand, he needed to carry with him either a flag or umbrella as in some of the narrow streets it's easy to get lost. Plus, I'm used to more Q&A with the tour guide, to get the personal touch, if you will. This happened only to a limited extent. In short, the tour was encyclopedia-like.

Mostafa was an excellent guide, he works hard for the entire 3 hours showing us many sights, and he was talking nearly the entire time about the history and other tidbits of the city, and answering our questions. I especially liked that he didn’t try to take us to any shops with aggressive salesmen (which I had the unfortunate experience of in Marrakech). “Great walk, even with two languages”

The walk was organised very well. Everyone got a receiver with a headphone so you still could listen to the talk even when you were behind. Since there were two language groups (Spanish and English), the minority listened to explanations as we walked while the majority got the lecture when we stopped at a place of interest. If you are not confident in your English, Mustafa might talk a little bit too fast while You walk. He was happy to answer any questions and thanks to him we were later able to navigate the labirynth without Google maps. As he explained, the stops at tannery and spice shop are simply because they explain the subjects better and the only way to get a nice view od the tannery is to get in through a shop. Just don't buy anything there as it's massively overpriced(the spice shop won't even bargain while being over 2x the price). I'd suggest skipping the restaurant at the end and coming back an hour later as at the end of the trip it's full because all guides bring customers at similar time. We came back after an hour and it was empty. The restaurant is pricy(150mad for a course +15% service) but the interior is nice. Gave 4/5 on content because the restaurant didn't seem "local" but rather pricy, contrary to what it was sold as by the guide. I strongly recommend the tour nevertheless.

Nos encantó la visita y el guia muy amable, no les doy un 5 a todo porque ibamos super rapidos y nos hubiera gustado ir un poquito mas lentos, pero es super comprensible cuando quieres ver todo. Super recomendable si es la primera vez q vas, para que te puedas situar un poco en el gran laberinto de la medina.

Nous étions quatre français qui avons rejoint un groupe d argentins et l expérience était très bonne. Le guide a su s adapter aux deux langues sans problème avec beaucoup de fluidité. Ses commentaires intéressants et rassurant et efficace pour cheminer vers les différents centres d'intérêt. On s est régalé et sa bienveillance nous a comblé. Merci Mustapha. “Guia amable, educado y con amplio conocimiento”

Guia agradable y educado. A pesar de ser sólo dos personas, hizo el tour igualmente, eso sí, indicándonos un precio mínimo. Durante la visita se notaba que conocía la ciudad, pero hubo demasiadas paradas en tiendas (hamman, cuero, herbolario, tienda de ropa..)
