Villa Tugendhat is world-famous – and often booked up months in advance. But Brno’s Functionalist architecture has much more to discover.
Step inside Villa Wittal, one of Brno’s most fascinating modernist houses, preserved in its pre-restoration state. This urbex-style visit offers a chance to experience the villa before its planned renovation.
Built in 1932 by architect Heinrich Blum for the Jewish Wittal family, the villa brings together distinctive architecture, family history and the dramatic events of the 20th century. During the tour, you’ll explore its authentic interiors, discover its architectural details and uncover the moving story of the people who once called it home. The tour is organised in cooperation with the Brno City Museum.
Villa Wittal is located in the elegant Masaryk Quarter, renowned for its outstanding interwar architecture. Here, crisp Functionalist lines meet graceful curves and distinctive details.
The villa was home to the Wittal family for only a few years before the upheavals of the 20th century changed their lives forever. More than an architecture tour, this experience reveals the personal stories and destinies behind Brno’s modernist facades.
