Join this tour through the heart of Dresden! Discover palaces, baroque churches, and the history that made this jewel the "Florence on the Elbe". A journey into the past full of art and charm.
The city of Dresden emerged as a small medieval center and reached its heyday in the Baroque period of the 18th century. This was the city's golden age, during which numerous buildings were constructed and the Elector's court hosted internationally renowned artists such as Johann Sebastian Bach. In the 19th century, the city became the capital of the Kingdom of Saxony and one of the engines of industrial development in eastern Germany.
Unfortunately, much of the historic center and its works of art were destroyed by the catastrophic bombings of February 1945. In GDR times and to this day, the city has risen from the ashes. Our tour begins at the Frauenkirche, Dresden's landmark and symbol of peace, rebuilt after its destruction in World War II. Then we will take a walk along the Brühlterrasse, with a wonderful view of the Elbe, admire the Palace and the Hofkirche, and learn about the history of the Wettin family in front of the Princes' Court. Finally, we will talk about the Dresden Opera and finish at the Zwinger, the pearl of the Saxon Baroque.
