The tour starts at 9:00 AM in Paleochora. We'll drive to Azogires and begin a short 10-minute trail that leads to the entrance of the Cave of the 99 Holy Fathers. No prior experience is needed to reach the heart of this sacred site, where you’ll explore its unique atmosphere and spiritual significance.
Next, we’ll visit the nearby carved caves, once dug by ancient hermits seeking solitude and reflection. These caves provide a fascinating glimpse into the ascetic lives of early Christian monks on Crete.
We’ll then return by car to the serene Azogires Monastery, renowned for its peaceful setting and historical significance.
After the tour, you’re welcome to relax and enjoy a drink or lunch at the outdoor terrace (dehors) of the local Café Neo, surrounded by nature and village charm.
