Withe the Mythological Route in Athens we invite you to discover Athens, the city of the gods, from a different point of view:
The ancient Hellenes believed in the 12 Olympian gods, who ruled their world and governed the laws of nature. Worshipped and feared at the same time, from his throne atop Mount Olympus, Zeus looked down upon the humans who dedicated themselves to erecting temples in his name. On the other hand, his older brothers, Poseidon and Hades, oversaw the sea and the underworld respectively.
It would be unthinkable to try to understand life during Ancient Greece, its society or the development of its history, without first talking about mythology. Without going any further, we owe the very name "Athens" to the goddess of wisdom, Athena.
