I did this tour last week with my husband, daughter and 16 year old son. Everyone enjoyed it. It was a cold day but Christina took us inside buildings when she could. She was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour.

I went on the 1900 Vienna & Hitler tour and was a bit worried about how these two topics will fit together, but I was pleasantly surprised. Christina, a historian, found a good way to include it all in a comprehensive story about how Vienna developed in the 1st half of the 20th century. I especially appreciate how she managed to combine solid and detailed historical information with an overall understanding of historical dynamics, including nice dry humour and interpretation of what we saw on the way. She took care to take us to a few warmer spots on a cold day and we were able to hear her very well. Absolutely recommended!!

“No participants - no tour”
I was the only person to show up for the tour today. Another 14 were also booked for the tour but did not show up, so the tour did not happen. The guide, Josef, was very kind and showed me a few photos and original bank notes from the early 1900's. We chatted for a bit and said our goodbye. It is understandable that the tour doesn't happen, it's the way these things go sometimes. I will try another time, hopefully it works out then.

The tour was boring, we didn't move from the same spot for 45 minutes. The facts that the guide told us were not very interesting (we had heard most of it in a non specialized highlights tour) and conveyed in a non enticing way. If you're looking for a tour with facts on Hitler then this ain't the tour for you. I got about 30secs worth of information on Hitler and the intro lasted over half ann hour just standing in thr one place. In the end I got that fed up I left the tour early

“All Germans were Nazis!”
Unfortunately the tour guide left a very poor impression on us.
He constantly referred to “the Nazis” as “the Germans”. As a German born with no Nazi parents or relatives, I find this statement an absolute lack of truth apart from totally unacceptable. I therefore made a remark to the tour guide Josef, privately and in a very respectful manner while walking. His short and shocking reply was “nonsense, all Germans knew perfectly what was happening to the Jews”. This reply is scandalous, disgusting and shameful and he kept committing this same error for the tour remainders so I approached him one again with no result. A provocative gesture which is specially dangerous as wrong information is spread also among younger people who have no relation to the Second World War or Holocaust history. This is reportable and should be condemned.

On our free walk on Hitler and the 1900 era, Christina guided us gently in the shade during each stop. Besides that genius idea during this sunny walk, she explained very eloquent how the Anschluss in 1938 was realized. and how the young Adolf Hitler has influenced Austrian history after the collapse of the Habsburg 600 years monarchy. Thank you for this very detailed and personal approach of a very delicate era of Austrian history. What we need to remember Hitler was a failed Austrian painter, and von Beethoven a succesfull German composer.

German guide made fun of Austrian culture. That was not appropriate. An Austrian can make fun of his own culture but not a foreigner.
He did not „promote Austria“ in any way at all, but rather put it down. Approach seemed arrogant and not suitable for s tourist guide in Vienna.

It was pretty cold and windy so my mom almost forced me to quit with her. Despite the weather conditions the guide made her best, explaining every relevant historical fact, making good jokes in perfect English, answering all the guests' questions...

“Stop Apologising”
The Guide, Josef, repeatedly apologised for referring to Hitler - but this was the tour we all booked! Then nothing on Schiele or Klimt. Which also, we had signed up for? Josef seemed to be only 'going through the motions', repeating phrases and losing his path (verbally, I mean, not literally), and saying it was all historical 'showing-off' on behalf of the Hapsburgs. People who sign up for a Hitler and Klimt your are not such superficial people that we can't deal with a little deeper historic analysis or comment! We were left feeling he knew a lot more he wasn't going to share, but that could have been more interesting than repeated generalisations.
