Things to do Free tour of Vienna: discover the city through its inhabitants
We are a small group of local and state-certified Austria Guides and look forward to introducing you to the most liveable and lovable city in the world (UNESCO World Heritage Site) We start at the Albertina, visit the National Library, the Burggarten and parts of the Vienna Hofburg. We walk across Heldenplatz and immerse ourselves in Austria's more recent history. The Habsburg dynasty, the ruling dynasty at the center of Europe, is also discussed. The Sisi Museum and the Treasury are on our route. St. Stephen's Cathedral, the center of the city, is of course also a popular destination. W.A. Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert accompany us on our walk. Viennese cuisine with its specialties from schnitzel to Kaiserschmarren is of course a must. Or would you prefer to hear the history of the Viennese coffee house and a few anecdotes about the famous Viennese Heurigen? At the end of the tour, we will be happy to give you tips on how to make your stay in Vienna even more personal. Our guides will also be happy to tell you where you can get the best schnitzel and where we like to drink our Melange.

“Smart way to start your trip ..”
We had a nice sized group of 6 on Thu 11Dec25 with guide Christine. A full time Guide Christine was informative throuout our itinerary that was perfectly planned around the major ‘must sees’ over 2hrs. “Vienna in 2 Hours”
We met Elizabeth outside Cafe Mozart for the morning tour (10:30). Its an easy RV to find and a logical place to start from. Elizabeth is a very knowledgeable guide who gives good detail and descriptions during the 2-hour tour. Very much recommended as a good thing to do at the start of your Viennese holiday as it whets your appetitefor the cities attractions and is also good for orientation of the town.

“In spite of the rain - we had a great tour!”
Our guide gave us a great tour with wonderful information and many recommendations for both food and activities! We followed up on them and she was absolutely correct! We had children and adults with us and she was able to keep us all engaged and educated despite the lousy weather and huge amount of construction disruption! A truly talented, knowledgeable guide. Il fatto che fosse un "free" tour per noi è stato molto importante perché, essendo ancora studenti, un tour guidato a tutti gli effetti sarebbe stato difficile da sostenere a livello economico. C-A was a great guide, it was a huge group and he was working so hard to engage everyone and get through so much historical content. The tour was long, ours ran 2.75 hours, which I longer than I am used to or was expecting and it was getting pretty cold, but none of this is to say anything bad about the guide. I would definitely recommend him!

Our guide Charles was outstanding. Incredibly knowledgeable about the city history. The tour does not require a great dal of walking as the sites covered during the tour are close to one another. Highly recommend as an introduction to the Habsburg legacy in Austria. Charles was kind enough to also make recommendations for museums, restos and coffee shops. Well done ????

“Zu viele Leute ”
Es waren ungefähr 30 Leute in der Gruppe, das sind zu viele für einen Guide. In anderen Städten hat man für so viele Leute zwei Guides organisiert. Da die Frau keine sehr laute Stimme hatte, hat man die meiste Zeit nichts verstanden. (ich weiss leider nicht wie sie hiess, denn ich habe nicht einmal ihren Namen verstanden. Es war am Freitag 19.9. am Morgen) Ich bin nach 30 Minuten gegangen, da ich wirklich nichts davon hatte. Es war eine Zeitverschwendung, und traurig, da es einen so tollen anderen Guide auch noch hatte. Der Mann sprach etwas lauter, der könnte vermutlich eine so grosse Gruppe führen. Ich habe die Frau vor Beginn gefragt ob ich in die englische Gruppe könne, aber sie hat nein gesagt. Ich hätte mich für die deutsche Gruppe angemeldet. Der wahre Grund: Ganz einfach: Jeder Teilnehmer bezahlt dem Guide ein Trinkgeld. Ca. 10-30 Euro. Also im schlimmsten Fall, wenn der Guide nicht so gut ist, kriegt er/sie 30 x 10 Euro = 300 Euro. Wenn sie aber ein paar Teilnehmer abgibt, kriegt sie weniger. Mein Tipp für sie: 20 zufriedene Teilnehmer bezahlen 20 x 20 Euro = 400 Euro.

“Disappointing and not informative”
The guide was very friendly, and we visited some interesting spots however she consistently kept assuming we already knew things and thus not telling us about it. She'd go "You know about the Hapsburgs of course" or "You know who Sisi is". No. We didn't know. That's why I booked this tour. I wanted to learn more about the history of Austria and specifically the Hapsburgs. She showed us a house Mozart lived in but didn't tell us about him. I learned more about Austrian history on my walking tour in Slovakia than I did on this tour! I would recommend choosing a different tour company.

“Wonderful experience ”
The best thing to do when you don't have to much time to discover the city is to book this kind of walking tour.
Our guide Marina was very friendly, interesting, she managed to keep our full attention for more than 2 hours. She also gave us recommendations for best local quisine restaurants and coffee shops.
It was such a valuable experience. Thank you Marina

We had a really interesting and fun tour of Vienna. Our guide Elizabeth was great and we saw a lot and learned a lot more through this tour than wandering around Vienna. Thanks to Elizabeth for bringing Vienna to life. ????????

“Guide knew his subject but too detailed ”
Guide was enthusiastic; great personality. But, he went into too much detail. We stood in one spot at the beginning for 20 minutes and after that stood for a minimum of 10-15 minutes in each stopping point - this was too long. We lost interest due to too much detail. We had a lot to cover and he could’ve done this in 30 minutes less time than the 2 hours 15. I didn’t even know if we had seen the main attractions. Having done many walking tours across the Slavic countries, we were surprised when our guide said that the expectation for his tour was €37 per person. I will not consider this tour company again if this is the expectation.
