Cultural Private tour in Algiers

Day 1 - Arrival at Algiers airport,

Assistance & transfer to the hotel with a stop on the heights of the city to discover Makam Echahid. This Monument erected at the beginning of the 1980s, in memory of the Algerian fighters who fell for the liberation of the country, dominates the city from its ninety-two meters in height. It consists of three joined concrete palms, which symbolize the three revolutions.

In the afternoon, a walk will take us through the European city, to meet remarkable buildings such as the famous Grande Poste, the national theater, the wilaya (the prefecture of Algiers) or the Galeries de France, reconverted in Museum of Modern Art.

Algiers is indeed a city of architects, notably with the achievements of the French architect Fernand Pouillon, in the three cities built on the heights of Algiers, Diar-El-Mahçoul, Diar-Es-Saada and Climat de France, we will visit the works of the architect Le Corbusier, with for example the Aéro-Habitat “work of Miquel, Bourlier and Ferrer-Laloë, pupil of Le Corbusier and the famous Burdeau building-bridge of Pierre Marié, which was built from 'after the principles of Le Corbusier.

Then we will climb to the heights of Algiers to attend the last mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa, which overlooks the famous district of Bâb el Oued.

And we will end with an aperitif on the magnificent terrace of the Hotel El Aurassi which will offer us a magnificent panoramic view of the bay of Algiers.

Return to the hotel and dine in a restaurant in downtown Algiers to discover Algiers by night.

Day 02 - Cherchell - Tipaza - Tomb of the Christian

Departure towards Cherchell, the ancient Roman Caesarea. It has a museum of exceptional ancient sculptures, the National Museum of Cherchell, with on the left the bust of King Juba II, sculptures of the heads of Selene his wife and his mother Cleopatra ...

Place des Martyrs, the former Place de l'Esplanade - Place Romaine adorned with a replica of a Roman fountain, the original of which is in the museum.It is surrounded by a magnificent plantation of Bellombras (original tree subtropical) and multiple fragments of ancient works.

Direction Tipasa (city famous for its Roman archaeological remains and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site), lunch of fish and shellfish, then stroll on the ancient port and visit of the ancient city located in the West hill, the theater, the circus , the thermal baths ... Numerous Punic, Roman, Christian and African remains attest to the rich history of this region. Albert Camus wrote “Noces” there in 1939.

On the way back, small detour to visit the tomb of the Christian (Queen Selene wife of Juba II), in the evening dinner in a traditional restaurant in Algiers and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 - Basilica of Our Lady of Africa - Casbah - Garden of Essai

Visit of the Casbah starting with the Dey Palace which we nickname "Dar Essoltane" which is in the process of being restored, visit of the centenary house, Then we will meet the cabinetmaker Khaled Mahiout who will show us his workshop and his terrace which offers a panoramic view from the terrace, visit of the Sidi Ramdane mosque then the "Bir Chebana" fountain, visit of the Palace of Princess Khedaoudj and the Mustapha Pasha Palace, without forgetting the craftsmen of the Casbah.

We will have lunch in the fishery district where stands the New Mosque (Djamâa el-djedid), then direction the Museum of Fine Arts which will reveal many surprises to you and we will end with the discovery of the Jardin d'Essai, the largest African Botanical Garden (40ha & 3000 species). and transfer to the airport, departure assistance.
