Free Tour of Tetuán: History, Culture, and Essence

Discover the Medina and its secrets! Join us on a unique tour of Tetouan, a city rich in history, culture, and tradition, where every street and every corner has its own story to tell. On this tour, we’ll take you through the medina—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—where you can lose yourself in its labyrinthine alleys and markets filled with colors, the aromas of spices, and local products that will transport you to the heart of everyday Moroccan life. Over the course of 2 to 3 hours, we’ll explore the most iconic sites as well as those hidden gems that only a local guide can reveal. We’ll pass through Moulay El Mehdi Square, the city’s nerve center, surrounded by historic buildings and bustling with life; we’ll visit artisan workshops that keep the traditions of textiles, wood, and leather alive; and we’ll discover hidden corners of the medina where you can experience the authentic spirit of Tetouan. Throughout the tour, you’ll learn about the history of Tetouan, from its Al-Andalus era to its modern development, including Berber, Arab, and Spanish influences, as well as the famous historic Jewish quarter, the Mellah.
