We met Stanislav with umbrellas in hand; others had cancelled due to the weather but the tour still went on. (Thank you!) Stanislav did a great job of blending serious history with humor. At the end of the tour he took time to answer questions and to help us plan the rest of our time in Tartu. This was a very helpful introduction to Tartu!

It was very interesting to hear about Tartu through history and to see the likeness between the universities in Tartu, Lund and Uppsala. The context is much the same.
They were founded at about the same time also. Then we also got a good recommendation where to eat, The Gun Powder Cellar.

Really enjoyed the tour. Guide took the time to ask what we hoped for and tailored it to our needs. We felt bad it was just two of us on the tour as it's winter but this did not dampen the enthusiasm and spirits of our guide. He was so knowledgeable and generous with his time. Highly recommend!

“A very cold but interesting walk through Tartu”
We could definitively sense Stanislav's ethusiasm for Tartu's and Estonian history from the start. He was very knowledgeable and could answer pretty much all our questions. The only thing he could have done better would be to engage with his audience on a more personal level. The history lesson was informative but we would have liked to learn more on the local culture, politics or economics. If you're into history then Stanislav is your guy!

“Best tour in Estonia”
Stas is an amazing guide that really wants to connect to the participants. He started the tour with asking us about our interests and how he could make the tour better for us. With that knowledge he tailored the tour to our interests while still covering all the major sights.
The tour felt shortlived but thorough. While walking between the sights Stas took the initiative to ask some questions to the participants. That way, we felt like a group of friends at the end.
Overall I had the feeling that Stas was doing this mainly for fun and not for the money.
A great experience!

Hello,
we had a very good tour with Stans on Saturday and we loved specially his sense of humor ;-).
I have a funny story to add: I have a blog on facebook (for family and friends) and all of sudden I got today a reply from one girlfriend, that her Grandfather was 1941 in Tartu and he brought back a travel guide from 1937. If you are interested, please send me a mailadress where I can add this guide as a pdf-file, it is of course in German, but maybe it is of interest for Stans.
We enjoyed our time here very much and will recommend your tours as well.

“Wonderful guide!”
Stas was amazing, friendly, well informed, sensitive and also super welcoming and understanding. We mixed up the dates of the booked tour and he still welcomed us, helped to carry our baby's stroller down the stairs. The tour itself was really interesting, we were not bored for a second, he also researches a lot, but is able to point out intesesting pieces of information. He is so educated about everything else, not only Tartu, that it has been an absolute pleasure to be in this group. And we did really understand why he was in love with Tartu. “One of the best tour guides ever!”
We do 10-15 walking tours each year and the one with Stanislav in Tartu was one of the best ones in a long time. He is very friendly, has a good sense of humor and his pride in his city really shows through. Our tour ended up going almost 45 minutes longer than planned but it was as fun and interesting in the 3rd hours as it was in the 1st. Highly recommend this tour and this guide.

“Recommendations to take a gide”
We enjoyed around 2h walk in Tartu Old Town together with Stanislav. He is a great guid with a full pocket of interesting stories and anecdotes! We had a super great time, saw interesting places we would defiantly miss without his recommendations! I enjoyed the free walking tour a lot. I was the only attendee during winter and am very lucky that the tour was still provided.
The tour lastest a bit more than two hours and was very informative on the history of Tartu and Estonia in total, filled with anecdotes.
I highly recommend to join this tour when visiting Tartu!
In addition to historical facts, the host was happy to help with tips for restaurants/cafes and sights to visit.

To begin with, thank you for the enthousiastic tour. We can tell that you put your heart and soul into guiding and history. However we would like to share some remarks to help you improve this tour. For such a small city, a 2 hours tour might not be nessecary. We also got the feeling that you jumped from one story or fact to another. Pretty soon we were kind of lost in history. There was no structure. Try to write down whats most important, ask others what they think is most important, and leave out too many details. For example it was not nessecary to mention the Angels and Devils bridge. You were also talking while walking. We understand that this is a way to win time though as a group its hard to listen to someone while walking. During free walking tours you’d like to connect to the others in your group as well but there was no space for that unfortunately. Try to clearly only talk when standing close to the building/object. Finish your explaination, walk on to the next, stop and explain further. This gives participants space to process, connect, and come up to you to ask more questions while walking.

We had a wonderful tour with a nice Guide. Even it was raining and only three visotors attended the Guide managed to provide us with a lot of interesting historical data. Also some funny details where given. All in all it was a fantastic afternoon thanks to the guide.

Despite Tartu is a small city, I realized during the tour that I was missing many interesting aspects that have been explained greatly by Stanislav, who organized the tour in a very informative and fun way. 2 hours worthy to be spent in this way!

“Splendid tour of Tartu”
Stanislav made an excellent tour of the old town of Tartu. We came basically with very little knowledge about the city and was fascinated about the historical past of the city.
Stanislav also mixed in fun stories about life here and useful suggestions on where to find good food.
This was a proper walk with a local experience.
