Things to do Ascent of Stans Mountain by Historic Funicular Railway

Stans is the capital of the canton of Nidwalden, one of the founding cantons of the Swiss Confederation (official name of Switzerland) Depending on availability we will start or conclude the tour by climbing the Stansernhorn, a mountain of over 1800 meters high which is accessed by a two-stage journey: the first, from the funicular station (one of the oldest in Europe 1893), to the base of the mountain and the second in a cable car that is operated by a double-decker gondola roofless unique in the world; during the ascent and descent we can appreciate Lake Lucerne or the four cantons in all its splendor. Our tour starts at the Stans train station from where we visit the most emblematic places of the city: - Stansernhornbhan (1893) - Dorfplatz and the monument to Arnold Wrinkler - St. Peter and Paul Cathedral - Local viewpoint - Capuchin Monastery - St. Fidelis College with a huge Sequoyah tree, more than 150 years old - Schmidgasse and the oldest house in the city from 1843 We finish at the train station again to return to Lucerne or continue to Engelberg.
