Uncover Shenzhen’s creative side on a relaxed local tour through OCT-LOFT. Wander past repurposed factories, indie bookstores, design shops, and public art to experience a slower, authentic vibe beyond the famous skyscrapers.
Discover a quieter, more creative side of Shenzhen on this relaxed walk through Overseas Chinese Town and OCT-LOFT.
Shenzhen is famous for speed, technology and skyscrapers, but OCT shows another side of the city: cafés, bookstores, art spaces, green streets and everyday local life. I grew up in Shenzhen, and this area is one of my favorite places to understand the city beyond its business image.
Highlights of the walk:
- OCT-LOFT Creative Park: a former factory area turned into a creative district.
- Bookstores & design shops: independent stores, art shops and local lifestyle brands.
- Cafés & local life: quiet corners where locals spend a slow afternoon.
- Public art & old buildings: see how Shenzhen reuses industrial spaces.
- OCT story: learn why this area matters for culture, tourism and urban lifestyle.
- Optional nearby landmarks: outside introductions to He Xiangning Art Museum, Window of the World or Splendid China, depending on time and pace.
This is not a shopping tour or a rushed sightseeing route. Stops may change with weather, opening hours and group interest. Good for solo travelers, female travelers, design lovers, coffee lovers and first-time visitors.
