Srebrenica Genocide Tour from Sarajevo

Welcome to our tour of Srebrenica, a place that carries a heavy weight in Bosnian history. On July 11, 1995, Srebrenica witnessed one of the worst war crimes in Europe since the Second World War. Our guide will take you on a journey through the events leading up to the genocide, and how Srebrenica became the site of such horrific crimes against humanity. We will visit the Foundation "Srebrenica-Potocari" Memorial and Cemetery, established in memory of the victims of the genocide in 1995. The memorial was officially opened by former US President Bill Clinton in September 2003, and we will witness the impact of the atrocity on survivors and their families. Even after 22 years, workers are still sifting through remains and trying to identify bodies. The scale of the atrocity left deep emotional scars on survivors and created enduring obstacles to political reconciliation among Bosnia's ethnic groups. You will also have the opportunity to meet a survivor of the genocide, who will share their personal story of resilience and survival. It is a poignant and emotional experience, but one that is essential to understanding the history and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
