Absolutely great and super informative tour. One of the most important moments of my visit to Sarajevo - it is not easy to understand fully the painful history of the city and Bosnia as well as the current challenges. We booked this walking tour through the Freetour website and a recommendation from Sheva Free Walking Tours from Mostar. We are most grateful for the advice.
We had a sunny and dry day in Sarajevo. The tour started on time with a knowledgeable, witty and intelligent lady, Mira, a Sarajevan with a great heart and lots of humour. Her narrative was sharp and informative. At each stop she balanced successfully the harrowing and the absurd of living under siege in a city for almost four years. A bit of black humour went with it, especially to understand the life-and-death daily situations and the love and humanity of Sarajevans for their city and their country. Trying to live like a normal human being was an act of resistance and defiance itself. The explanations about the monuments and symbols, about the cultural resistance, about the role of the international press and the international community were also excellent. We felt that the walking tour was like a letter of love to Sarajevo and their fellow citizens. We wish Mira, Neno & friends much continued success. Thank you so much!

“wonderful tour!!!”
It was a very geat tour! It lasted two hours but at the end it was as it had lasted 30 minutes, we really would continue for a long time the experience! Neno's colleague (a very nice girl we don't remember the name) is great, very good in the explenations, ironic, deep in reflections but not heavy even if the temathic is so intence. She led all of us to see another Sarajevo, not detected at all in the main touristic approach to the city. She explained to us a lot of usefull things on the Yugoslav and post-yugoslav history, on the complicated dinamics of the '90s war and on the daily life in Sarajevo during the period 1992-95. We absolutely suggest to everybody to do this free tour!

“A highlight of my time in Sarajevo!”
I didn't want this tour to end! Neno's explanations included personal anecdotes, more general war history, and the current state of Bosnian politics. It was both informative and extremely moving, but the tone wasn't only somber — he managed to weave humor and optimism into his storytelling as well. My only regret is that I waited until my last day in Sarajevo to take this tour, because it made me want to spend more time in this incredible city!

“Educational, but sad tour!”
During the tour, we learned a lot about the siege of Sarajevo in the 90s and visited landmarks and memorials. Our guide was a child when the war broke out and she told us her first-hand experiences. The stories are real, but very sad and depressing.

Some tour spots have pretty sad stories behind, some are really wholesome, but all in all, the guide added a bit of Bosnian humour to all of them. I've checked the war tour and it was overwhelmed. The balance was perfect. You get some info about the bigger picture of the war but also you will get know better the war through personal stories. After this tour you can teach your history teacher I guess :)
