Tour of the Terezin Concentration Camp

Only in the recent past has Terezín once again become known as a tragic symbol of the detractors, dissidents, and opponents of the Nazi regime. The mission of the Terezín Memorial - the only institution of its kind in the Czech Republic - is to commemorate the victims of Nazi political and racial persecution during the occupation of the Czech lands in World War II. The memorial promotes museum, research, and educational activities, and visits to memorial sites related to the pain and death of the thousands of victims of the war. Although the fortress was founded as a very modern fortress in the late 18th century, it has changed its function over the years.
