Itinerary:
09:00 AM – Departure from Pogradec (by car)
We begin our journey from Pogradec, heading southeast toward the village of Blace (approx. 25 min drive – 17 km).
The road passes through beautiful rural landscapes, offering occasional views of Lake Ohrid and traditional Albanian countryside.
09:30 AM – Arrival in Blace Village and start of hike
After a short break in the village, we begin our guided hike toward the fortress ruins.
Duration of hike: approx. 40–50 minutes (moderate difficulty)
Trail: natural path, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, stone walls, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills and lake.
10:20 AM – Exploration of Blace Castle Ruins
Guided tour of the ancient ruins: learn about the castle’s strategic position, estimated to have Illyrian and medieval origins.
Historical narration, legends, and possible links to the broader defensive network of Lake Ohrid.
Free time for panoramic photos and rest.
11:00 AM – Return hike to the village
We follow the same scenic trail back to Blace.
12:00 PM – Return drive to Pogradec
