The tour starts from the historical center of Matera in Via Ridola, in the square in front of the Church of the Purgatory. Just outside the town, we ride along a stretch of the Via Appia, which was once known for pilgrimages and trade with the East.
After a short bike ride up the hill in Murgecchia Park, we stop to visit the Sanctuary of the Palomba and the Madonna delle Vergini rupestrian church. We set off again to return to the valley and then climb the Murgecchia Park, where we visit an ancient Neolithic village. After a short stop to refuel with water, we continue our ride into the park's heart amidst old farms, wheat fields, and the typical dry stone walls that characterize our area.
If we are lucky, we will not miss sightings of wild fauna. We then make one last stop on the Belvedere to take photos of the magical Sassi of Matera and return to the starting point.
