Things to do Kampala City Highlights Tour
The Gaddafi National Mosque in Kampala is a notable highlight, offering a unique vantage point from the top of the mosque tower, where you can see the entire city at a 360° angle. We later visit the Kisenyi slum to get a feel for ghetto life and then connect to Owino Market.
Our next stop is the Old Taxi Park, where all public taxis gather to pick up and drop off their clients. It’s indeed amazing to see the drivers maneuvering around in the organized chaos, which we would call “survival of the fittest.” The Hindu temple is another beautiful stop to take pictures and learn about the historical background and contributions of the Hindu community to Uganda’s economy.
Nakasero Market is where deserts intersect with spices. Technically, it’s Kampala’s wholesale market for fruits, vegetables, and spices, plus some local Ugandan food. We then proceed to the Independence Monument to trace the historical political background of Uganda. We visit the Gorilla Monument, the Mutesa II Monument, and the World War Monument.
The craft market marks the end of our tour, providing an opportunity for optional shopping and exploring the market.
