Gjirokastra Walking Tour

In this short tour, you will discover some of the city's magic by visiting the medieval Bazaar, the highlight of the city, the Argjiro Castle, and one of the oldest and best-preserved houses, the Zekate House. During this tour, you will be accompanied by a local guide who knows all the city's secrets. We will start the tour at Cerciz Topulli Square, where we will get some information about the tour and learn a bit about the city's history. Then we continue towards the Old Bazaar, stopping at the Neck of Bazaar and learning a bit about its architecture, where we also meet some of the town's artisans working with old methods. All products and souvenirs that you will see there are handmade and made of wool, stone, and wood. Then we head towards the Castle, where we spend around an hour and a half. An old castle of 2.5 hectares, full of history, tragedy, and legends, which the local guide will explain to you. You`ll be 330 meters above sea level, enjoying breathtaking views of Gjirokastra, the typical tower houses covered with grey stone, usually two or three floors. One of the well-preserved Ottoman-style houses is the Zekate house.
