At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the stairs of the Metropolitan Cathedral to begin this free tour around Florianópolis. Once we're all together, we'll begin the tour around the historic center, popularly known as Floripa, and we'll learn of the secrets of its most important monuments and buildings through the eyes of a local historian. While we walk, we'll learn about the indigenous groups that founded Florianópolis, taking us back to the 17th century, a time marked by the arrival of Portuguese colonizers and African enslaved. After learning about the founders of 'Desterro', we'll make our way to the Cruz e Sousa Palace, the old headquarters of the State Government, and the November 15th Square. At the Public Market, we may have a few minutes to get a drink, buy a souvenir, or use the restrooms. The following stops will be at a Church built by the African community and Álvaro de Carvalho Theatre, one of the most beautiful monuments in the city. Before finishing, we'll walk down Hercílio Luz Avenue until we arrive at Santa Bárbara Fort, two locations that must be discussed in order to understand Florianópolis. We finished the tour with a toast at the Miramar Memorial.
