Things to do Free Essential Tour in Santiago Chile
We meet at Plaza de Armas in front of the Museo Historico Nacional with a GREEN CAP. From that point, we will walk by Plaza Montt-Varas, the former national congress, the pre-Colombus art museum, the presidential palace, the stock exchange neighborhood, and the municipal theater. The tour ends in the Lastarria neighborhood, a place with restaurants and cultural activities for you to visit after the tour.

Felipe was a wonderful guide with excellent English and lots of information about the history, lore and architecture of the area. He focussed on the area immediately near the original Spanish settlement of Santiago but he also gave good insight into the Indigenous history as well. MJ was an excellent guide for us today, she coupled her knowledge with her passion for the subject and made sure everyone could hear and what’s more understand too. She summarised which was helpful and she found a clean loo stop for us right under the presedential palace!
She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient and also had a great sense of humour. Unfortunately the tour ran on and we were booked on a second tour so had to leave after nearly 3 hrs just as they were ascending Santa Lucia hill. Many thanks MJ highly recommend you ????

Hice el free tour por el centro de Santiago de Chile y la experiencia fue muy buena. El guía era muy amable, conocedor de la historia y consiguió hacer el recorrido ameno e interesante. Visitamos varios puntos clave de la ciudad y se nos dio mucha información sobre su historia y cultura.
Sin embargo, me pareció una pena que no entráramos en la Catedral, especialmente porque se dedicó bastante tiempo a otros lugares que, en mi opinión, eran menos relevantes. Al final del tour intentamos visitarla por nuestra cuenta, pero ya estaba cerrada, así que tuve que esperar hasta otro día. Una vez que pude entrar, comprobé que es un lugar impresionante y, sin duda, una visita obligada en Santiago.
En general, recomendaría el tour, pero sugeriría incluir la visita al interior de la Catedral o al menos recomendar su visita por su cuenta 10 minutos antes de empezar el tour, ya que el punto de encuentro es la plaza de armas y es uno de los puntos más emblemáticos de la ciudad.

Hicimos un recorrido muy interesante por el centro de Santiago. Fue una excelente oportunidad para conocer más sobre la historia de Chile y comprender mejor el contexto político del país, lo que enriqueció bastante la experiencia.
La guía demostró gran conocimiento y pasión por el tema, presentando una narrativa envolvente. Noté que había una cierta inclinación en la perspectiva política expuesta, lo que puede ser positivo para algunos y menos para otros, dependiendo del punto de vista de cada visitante.
En general, fue una experiencia enriquecedora y recomendable para quienes deseen explorar Santiago con una mirada más profunda.

The part of the tour i attended was fantastic. The guide who is from Caribbean is wonderful very knowledgeable & huge amount of information. However I took 1 minute to take a photo of the statue in Plaza des Armes & lost the group! It wasn’t possible to take a photo while she gave us info about the statue as we we’re sitting in shade. I took a minute & didn’t even wait for people posing in front of statue to finish. I thought they had gone down the pedestrian steeet but could not see them & then thought maybe they just crossed the road at the traffic lights & had gone right or left.
I wasn’t given a WhatsApp number for the guide unfortunately. I understand i booked very late at 1pm on the day and maybe that was the reason why.
I went to Starbucks to get WiFi & google maps to try follow on but could not find them. The description of your just said it includes…. And not chronological itinerary. What a shame. I was very disappointed and I would have given the guide a very generous tip

After the tour I felt much more at home in Santiago, better understanding its origins, reasons for its location and the significance of the names of many streets and landmarks.

We had a fantastic time on Manuel's free walking tour, which focused on government buildings in Santiago. Manuel is clearly passionate about Chilean history and politics. He shared insightful stories and anecdotes, making the tour both informative and entertaining. He was also very patient and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The tour was a highlight of our trip to Santiago.
