The Cathedral of Saint Nicholas is one of the most important buildings and the oldest church in Stockholm. It is located a few meters from Stortoget Square. It first appeared in writings around 1279. It was built in the Gothic style, but in the mid-18th century its exterior was remodeled in the Baroque style. Its interior is characterized by its brick walls and columns and its vaulted ceiling. It houses the famous medieval wooden sculpture of Saint George and the dragon from the 15th century, symbolizing Sweden's victory over Denmark. In addition, there is also the oldest painting in Stockholm, Vädersolstavlan, which represents a peculiar astronomical phenomenon from the Middle Ages.
2. Gamla Stan

4. The Royal Palace
The Royal Palace is the main representative building of the Swedish monarchy. It is a Baroque building that was built in the 13th century, but it was not until the 18th century that it looked like it does today. After the fire of 1697, the palace was rebuilt and the Italian style of the façade and the French style with Swedish influences were introduced to the interior. The Royal Palace of Stockholm stands out for its great extension, since it contains more than 600 rooms decorated in a unique style. This building is located on the island of Gamla Stan, a few steps from the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag).
One of the main tourist attractions in Stockholm is the famous changing of the royal guard. It is held every day in front of the esplanade of the Royal Palace at 12:15 p.m. in winter and at 11:45 a.m. in summer.
5. Port of Stockholm
The Port of Stockholm is the largest in Sweden. Throughout the city there are about seven ports where ships arrive from different places, including from other European countries. But surely the favorite port, the one we all want to know, is Stadsgården. But it is also a place of fabulous beauty. One of the things that we recommend is that you try to see the port from different points of the city.
In addition, nearby you can find the Riddarholmskyrkan Church and the Stockholm City Hall; from this last building you can also get some beautiful pictures of the city if you go up to the top of the tower, which is about 100 meters high.
6. Stockholm Subway
A subway as one of the main places to visit? Some of the stations are a work of art in themselves. For several years, local artists have been painting the subway tunnels. Thus, they give fantastic shapes to the stations with their own themes. We highlight the Kungsträdgarden stop, an entire underground garden. The Rådhuset cave station or the Thorildsplan stop, which will undoubtedly delight video game lovers, are also not to be missed.
7. Stockholm City Hall
The Stockholm City Hall or Stadhuset is one of the essential monuments of the city. This elegant red brick building stands on the island of Kungsholmen. The Vasa Museum is the most important to visit in Stockholm. This magnificent museum houses a beautiful and impressive warship. The name of this building is given by one of the most fascinating exhibitions in the city, a ship built in the 17th century with the same name. It is the only one from that time that has survived the passage of time.
The construction of this ship took place in the context of the 30 Years War, and the particular conflict that Sweden and Poland maintained within it. King Gustavo ordered the construction of the largest warship of his time for control of the Baltic Sea.
9. Sergei Square

His workshop was located north of the plaza. It is a meeting point for both tourists and locals. In addition, a place where many public events take place.
It stands out for its very particular design. At one of its ends you will find a fountain surrounded by a vehicular roundabout. In the center of the fountain stands a glass obelisk designed by the Swedish sculptor Edvin Öhrström.
10. Crown Bridge
