Things to do Avignon Wine & Stories Walking Tour

Avignon is famous for its popes and medieval walls, but it is also one of the gateways to the great wines of the Rhône Valley. On this relaxed evening walk, we’ll discover both sides of the city. We’ll wander through the historic center, passing some of Avignon’s most beautiful squares and medieval streets, while talking about the popes, everyday life in Provence, local food and the long connection between Avignon and wine. Along the way, we’ll stop at two local wine bars. I’ll introduce you to some of the wines and appellations of the Rhône Valley and help you choose something interesting to try — perhaps a Côtes-du-Rhône, Vinsobres, Vacqueyras, Gigondas or another local discovery. This is not a formal wine-tasting class. Think of it as an evening in Avignon with a local: a little history, a little wine, good conversation and a chance to discover places you might otherwise walk past. Wine and food are not included in the tour price. At each stop, you are free to order whatever you like and pay directly to the venue. There is no obligation to drink at every stop. The walk lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
