The Old City Tour was amazing. The Guide was very nice and had so much interesting information about the city. Can absolutely recommend the Tour!

“Enjoyable tour”

The guide was very pleasant, informative and very mindful of the guests needs. I would have enjoyed a more structured account of how the city developed throughout the ages and how these cultural and social changes reflected in the city; for example, how the Reformation led to the co-joining of religious and secular power, and how this affected the aesthetic, purpose and status of churches; or how the cantons came to be united in a federal system, and how this decentralized mentality reflects the civic buildings of the city. All these things were mentioned, but not too in depth. This is just me speaking as a history nerd, though. Overall the tour is very enjoyable and gives you a good feel of the city center of Zurich, which is its fundamental purpose. Would definitely recommend.

“A great experience”

The tour guide was very informative and super knowledgeable of the city. She gave adequate time at each location and gave us sufficient time to take pictures. She kept the tour moving swiftly and could easily spent another hour on the tour if needed. Wished we hit a couple more spots on the tour, but otherwise overall a great experience and highly recommend.

“Great guide ”

We’ve done a lot of tours and the guide on this one was one of the best we’ve had. Knowledgeable, friendly, told interesting stories and was mindful of guests needs. Only downside was the construction that made walking on paths challenging in a few areas. We had to go through it to get to a nice view point.

“Welcome to Switzerland”

Three hours after our plane touched down at Zurich Airport, my wife and I got introduced to Switzerland and Zurich’s historic City Center, thanks to an informative and casual walking tour led by a Free Tour guide. Sadly, I don’t remember her name, but she was fabulous. Our group was a little larger than I expected (about 25), but it wasn’t a problem — our guide spoke loud enough for all to hear and stopped at spots where we could gather around her. I had read Rick Steves’ walking tour of the historic district, and our guide covered most of his spots, while adding a few others. And in addition to covering Zurich, she covered life in the country. The tour lasted two hours (listed on website as 1.5) because she answered every question, suggested places such as Sprunglis for chocolate, and kept a comfortable walking pace. Afterwards, she recommended a few restaurants and other places. Excellent job. This was our fifth Free Tour (Athens, Paris, and the Azores), and our only regret is that there won’t be a Free Tour in our next two stops. Lucerne and Bern.

“Pleasant and informative tour of Zurich town centre”

I enjoyed the tour led by Jonathan. The venue was easy to find and we started on time (as expected in Switzerland!) Jonathan was knowledgeable and had many interesting anecdotes to share. He was very approachable and encouraged people to ask more questions if they wanted to know more. Loved the story about the chocolate. The tour time was 45 minutes which is not bad- although we could have done 1 hour as the little break for photos and fountain stare refreshed us. All in all a great experience- would highly recommend.

My husband and I took this tour in English with Maria. She was very personable and knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only problem was saying the tour met in front of UBS - it was actually in front of Credit Swiss so we didn’t see it until most of the people had gathered. Otherwise it was wonderful!

Over the past year I traveled around South America and Europe and took part in a lot of free walking tours. Unfortunately this wasn’t a good one. Our guide was enthusiastic and very nice, she offered us some local chocolate and a Starbucks voucher but in my opinion we did too many stops while not getting enough information. The overall red thread was missing, themes were not connected with each other, the interesting cultural facts and fun facts you cannot read about in every guide book were missing, too. And on top we were done after only 70 minutes!

She gave us a overview of life in Zurich today, and through buildings and streets of both the current and old city an understanding of the history which goes back to Roman times.
