Join us for a two-hour walking tour through Ciudad Vieja, the historical and cultural heart of Montevideo. Together, we will explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks while discovering the stories, traditions and architectural styles that shaped Uruguay’s capital over time.
We will begin at Plaza Independencia, where we will talk about the origins of the city and observe emblematic buildings such as Palacio Salvo and the Artigas Mausoleum. From there, we will pass through the Puerta de la Ciudadela, one of the few remaining parts of the colonial wall that once surrounded Montevideo.
As we walk along Peatonal Sarandí, we will experience the artistic and vibrant atmosphere of Ciudad Vieja, surrounded by cafés, street art, bookstores and historic buildings. We will also visit Plaza Matriz and the Metropolitan Cathedral, important symbols of Montevideo’s colonial past.
