Our History and Nature Walking Tour of Sayago and Peñarol is an experience that showcases the natural landscape, architecture, culture, folklore, and language of the area. Over the course of two and a half hours, we’ll explore the area, experiencing the lifestyle of this historic residential and aristocratic neighborhood as a local would. We will explore eight specializations within the field of history, as well as the historical and cultural heritage of various communities, and in particular the historical and cultural heritage of that segment of the Uruguayan population descended from parts of the Argentine and Brazilian populations whose ancestral folkloric culture is Celtic—since they belong to the current Celtic-Latin ethnic groups: Friulian-Venetian-Julian, Lombard, Piedmontese, French, Asturian, Galician, and Portuguese, as well as the present-day Scottish and Irish Celtic ethnic groups, which make up the majority of the population born in the northern part of the Department of Montevideo.
